GUA SHA
This is an ancient technique used for treating painful muscles and fatigue. Oil is applied to the treatment area and then the skin is lightly scraped. Traditionally, water buffalo horn was used. Often small, red bumps will appear. In fact, the term gua sha translates as "grains of sand". As the bumps and redness come to the surface, toxic heat and muscle stagnation are being released. Relief can often be felt immediately form this simple technique.
CUPPING
Cupping is used for the treatment of painful muscles, joints, asthma and colds. The area to be treated is lightly oiled and cups are used to create a suction on the muscles. This detoxifies, stretches and releases heat from the area. This suction was traditionally created by bringing a lit candle in and out of a cup as you placed it down. Modern cups use a suction method. This very effective folk remedy is used
in many cultures around the world.

MOXA
Moxibustion is an ancient technique that uses heat to treat specific points or areas of the body. This heat can be used to treat pain, weakness or internal cold and damp.
Moxibustion is the burning of moxa, a wooly leafed plant called artemisia vulgaris, a common weed in China. The leaves are dried and used in different ways. Moxa can be kneaded into cones of different sizes for use directly on the skin, it can be rolled in paper like a cigar and used to treat large areas of the body, and it can be put on top of acupuncture needles to warm them during treatment.
Moxa gives a mild heat that patients find comforting and relaxing. It is often used where there is pain because it increases the movement of blood and fluids.
